Here is week fourteen’s photo:
14 weeks (March 11)
Khloë had a doctor’s appointment on Wednesday. She weighed in at 13 lb 12 oz and her length is 24.4 inches. Growing girl, for sure! Dr K just wanted to make sure her neck muscles were improving, which I believe they are. Khloë still doesn’t lift her head when she’s laying on her stomach, but when she’s being held or sitting on one of our laps she is doing so good with holding her head. So no trip to CHEO yet.
The 4-pack Aden & Anais muslin swaddle blankets from Indigo arrived this week. I’m so happy that I got “Little Lamb” set on sale! I LOVE these blankets; they are useful for many things. I was given 2 at my first baby shower and another one at the church shower, but three just wasn’t enough (given the amount of times baby girl likes to throw up on them). Now I have plenty.
The four headbands, pink lacey diaper cover, and purple lace romper from PetitePeppermint on Etsy showed up this week as well. 🙂
Getting ready for a bath
Starting on March 18th, Khloë and I will be going to “Make the Connection”, an 8 week program for parents and their babies. It’s supposed to give us new ideas for play time and help us connect with our children more. I hope it will be a good experience.
The above collage is Khloë and her ultrasound picture!
She also went the whole week without a dirty diaper and then on Sunday she finally pooped! The doctor said its normal for breastfed babies to have irregular bowel movements and that I shouldn’t worry, but I was definitely worrying. I have never been so happy to change a stinky diaper (or three).
Khloë is no longer a newborn. My tiny little baby has morphed into a big baby.
13 weeks (March 3)
She has a little cry that means she’s tired, and if we swaddle her and lay her in her bed then she’ll fall asleep on her own. She’s such a good sleeper, giving me 7-8 hour stretches at night so that I don’t feel like a zombie.
My little beauty
I ordered four more headbands from PetitePeppermint on Etsy! Soooo excited to get them. Her hair is falling out at the front (probably from scraping off the cradle cap) and the headbands will hide her baldness. 😀
Just about at the three month mark! Here is Khloë’s 12 week photo with her Hello Kitty doll.
12 weeks (February 25)
I love taking these weekly pictures! Seeing her every day, I don’t realize how big she is getting. Every Sunday at church the ladies remark about how much she has grown!
I have packed up more clothing that she has outgrown. Some 0-3 month pants continue to fit, however some are way too short so I packed those away. She has some adorable jeans and other cute pants in 3-6 months that I can’t wait to dress her in. Size 0-3 sweaters are put away as well; the 3-6 month sweaters are a little big but she will grow into them quickly, I’m sure!
When we “talk” back and forth, mimicking each other’s sounds, is one of my favourite things. Her eyes light up and she looks so excited and happy.
Khloë weighs approximately 13 lbs now. I stepped on the scale with her so it’s not completely accurate, but gives me an idea.
The above are some of my favourite pictures from the week taken on my Canon 60D.
Two and a half months old!
11 weeks (February 18)
We seem to have the cradle cap under control now. All it took was a jar of coconut oil. Every day I warm some and slather it over her scalp and then use a fine tooth comb to gently scrape off the scales. Now the battle is with a flaky, dry scalp that leaves dandruff on her clothes and blankets and makes her hair look kinda gross. By the way, my darling girl has almost no hair on the top of her head and longish hair along the sides and back, kind of like Friar Tuck.
Wearing her new head band
Modelling her head band and Aristocats romper
This week Khloë started mimicking me when I made sounds or stuck my tongue out at her. She finds that really amusing! I get a kick out of her silliness. I can’t wait to hear her true laugh; right now she makes a funny sound that is almost a laugh.
This might be on the TMI side of things, but she only poops once a day now. That saves on diaper changes! Still in Pampers size 2s. I’m not sure what she weighs now. Her next doctor’s appointment is March 12th but I might just hop on the scale with her and get an estimate.
First tobaggan ride
With the weather warming up a bit, Jordan took Khloë and I on a tobaggan ride around our yard!
By the end of this week, Khloë started wearing 3-6 month sleepers and, as of today, 3-6 month onesies. Sweaters and pants in 0-3 months continue to fit her. She’s growing so fast! I think I say that every week, but it’s so true!
10 weeks (February 11)
I can say for certain that she’s now giving us true smiles! I discovered yesterday that stroking the bottom of her feet must tickle because it makes her smile even when she’s fussing. Khloë still loves being on her change pad. When it comes to wanting milk from Mama, as soon as she’s on the nursing pillow she begins to fuss because she knows what’s coming and wants it NOW.
Posing in her very snug romper
Big blue eyes
My girl is sleeping very well through the night, at least 6 to 7 hours in between feeding. During the day she needs a few naps, but these naps are generally 1-3 hours long. If she doesn’t take her naps, then she can get pretty fussy late in the evening.
She loves her bouncy chair but still isn’t overly fond of being in her cradle swing. As for tummy time, she still doesn’t like it; she either cries or just lays there and makes no effort to lift her head. She does hold up her head when she’s held against my chest or if I sit her on my lap with my hand on her back. She’ll figure it out!
Unfortunately, she has a very bad case of cradle cap! I have tried using olive oil and baby oil to loosen the scales, but they come back full-force by the next morning. I will be trying coconut oil next. The baby acne has disappeared, thankfully!
