Next weekend we will be heading to Kingston to finalize a burial plot for Khloë. We decided to purchase a family plot. Then the burial will be April 11th.
At the end of this month Jordan and I will be flying to Orlando, Florida! I’m super excited about this trip. His parents wanted to take us on a much-deserved vacation and of course we said yes. Everything is now booked and the countdown is on! We have a surprize for them while we’re there, too!
It is with a heavy heart that I make this post… On January 16th, our sweet girl lost her fight with Spinal Muscular Atrophy.
December 3, 2013 – January 16, 2015
We are heartbroken.
Khloë was hospitalized on January 12th with aspiration pneumonia and a collapsed lung. She passed away from complications from these issues. Her body was too weak. Jordan and I, as well as close friends and family, were with her to the very end.
We love you, Sweet Pea.
I will add missing journal entries when I feel that I am able to.
On December 3, 2014 my baby girl turned one year old! I decorated a pink backdrop with Frozen-themed snowflakes and tissue paper poms, dressed Khloë in a turquoise lace romper, and took some photos.

Here are some of my favourite pictures from her birthday party:
Back in the beginning of July, my mom hosted a big party at the cottage. The party was to celebrate three things: my nephew Ashe’s 3rd birthday, Khloë’s 7 month milestone, and my brother Mark’s visit from Newfoundland.
Jordan, Khloë, and I spent a couple extra days before the party hanging out at the cottage. We slept in the guest cottage–the first time I’d slept in there in about five years!–and enjoyed the beautiful weather and laid-back atmosphere. The party came about three weeks after Khloë’s heart-wrenching diagnosis, so it was wonderful to get away for a mini-vacation.
Happy 3rd Birthday, Ashe!
All our friends and family came out on July 5th to celebrate with us! There was plenty of great food and of course lots of baked goodies courtesy of me. 😉 I even made Khloë a special chocolate pudding, which I think she enjoyed.
Keesje and I used last year’s “Thomas the Tank Engine” decorations and added in some Disney Princess bits n’ pieces for a girly touch! There were lots of outdoor toys for the kids, including a water table. Plus swimming and paddle-boating!
What a great party! I am so happy that everyone had a great time. Let’s do it again next summer!
On August 11th, after a visit to CHEO, we went to the Aviation & Space Museum. Jordan signed out a free family pass from our local library before heading to Ottawa and we ended up spending just under two hours wandering around the museum. It was a nice way to spend time as a family!
That last photo is pretty epic. 😉
