Happy New Year! First post of 2010, and hopefully I won’t be as lazy as last year and barely write anything. Well, yesterday after work I began my holidays. I go back on the 10th. Unfortunately, I’ve come down with my first cold of the new year. Nice luck, eh? Felt like absolute crap yesterday and so Jordan went out to celebrate without me while I crawled into bed with a bottle of Nyquil and The Sleeping Buddha (Hamida Ghafour). Fell asleep around 11 pm. I feel slightly better today, meaning my nose isn’t running like a faucet but I’m still sneezing and feel a little woozy.
I’m sick with a cold. Just about everyone at work has suffered through one of these the past month and now it is my turn. I think it has been quite awhile since last I was sick. I feel like crap.
I got called into work yesterday. Gave me some extra hours after the cut-backs. I sneezed and blew my nose all night though. Now I have today off and tomorrow, and I’m planning on sitting around indulging in vitamin C.
In other news, Jordan and I have booked an 8 day trip to Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, for February. I’m very excited about that. I can’t wait until he comes home.
Hmm it seems one of my posts somehow got filled up with spam, directly inside the post with my text. There must be some way spammers got in.
My missing post from maybe two weeks ago:
The trip is getting closer and closer. I’ve got lists of things to pack, things to do, everything is organized so far. One hiccup happened this morning when I got an email saying that the first part of Jordan’s flight off the island is cancelled and changed to a later time of day. Unfortunately that later time doesn’t line up with his next flight, so I had to completely change the return flight which was a pain in the butt. I hope that nothing else like that occurs before take-off!
Our beautiful weather has gradually turned into rainy, cool days. It’s nice to have a cool breeze, though, knowing I’m going to be in a really hot climate soon. Then I’ll be whining for the coolness! lol
I have some sort of rash, or cold sores, or “sun blisters”, all across my top lip and the infection has spread to my lower lip along the edges. They don’t look like full-fledged cold sores, just tiny blisters I guess, but they ooze and burn and keep spreading. They start to get better, and I get hopeful, then they reappear starting as little bumps and spread quickly. I’ve tried lots of chapstick, Blistex, and even Abreva for 10 days. After the Abreva the sores cleared up but then two days later came back and I’ve been loading on the Abreva again, which is drying out the skin around my lips. This started May 10th and now it’s June 22 so it’s carried on long enough. I’m so frustrated and it’s stressing me out because I don’t want to suffer through this while on vacation. I’m hoping to get in to see my doctor within the next couple days, see if she can suggest anything. ANYTHING!
I want to be able to wear lip gloss again!
My lips have cleared up, thank goodness. It took two doses of some good meds to get rid of it.
Leaving for Thailand next week. I am getting restless, I just want to get there and see Jordan. I know we’re going to have a great time!
I can’t wait to pack! lol
If you’ve seen “Mulan”, then you know what I’m talking about. 🙂
Anyway, I have a cold. I hate having to blow my nose when I’m on the bus. I know I’m probably grossing the people out around me, but I can’t help it. And then having to go to work and serve customers in between nose-blowing. Ick. But what can ya do?
I bought a new book today, Prisoner of Tehran, a memoir by Marina Nemat. I’ve been wanting to read it for awhile now, and I finally picked it up. First I have two other books to read though.
It’s been quite awhile since I posted last. Winter is here. There is a lot of snow outside; it’s been gathering since yesterday. The roads are slippery, the sidewalks are difficult to walk on, and the buses are running late. I hate winter for the most part.
Yesterday I worked 8:00-4:30 pm rather than 8:30-5:00 pm. I went in early to help with taking down the signs with old sale prices. I was happy that I would be home a little bit earlier than normal, but I was wrong. I stood at the bus stop at 4:40 waiting with some other people, and nothing came until 4:55. It wasn’t even the bus I needed but I hopped on because I was freezing and got off at the Gardiner’s Centre, only to wait until almost quarter after five for the bus I actually needed to take me to my next transfer point. Once there, I had another little wait before my third bus came. By the time I got home it was nearing 6:20 pm, which is a few minutes after the time I normally get home. Grr.
Last Wednesday I had a check up at my doctor’s. It had been about four weeks since my appendix was removed. She looked at my incisions to see how they were healing. The one near my left hip and the lower one are still red lines, but they don’t hurt. The major one on my belly button is doing well; half the scab has fallen off to reveal healing scar tissue. The only thing is, the skin wasn’t drawn together very neatly so it doesn’t look that great. There is a lump underneath the skin which should go away in about a year — it consists of scar tissue and sutures.
It was hard when I first went back to work because I stopped taking the medication I was given for the pain. It made me very sleepy so all I could take was ibuprofen, which didn’t help as much. My first two days back on November 12th and 13th I only worked 3-4 hours and had to go home. Then I had two scheduled days off and worked a full eight-hour shift on the Friday. Each day I felt a little better, like I was getting a bit more energy and the ability to stay on my feet longer. I have not been allowed to do any kind of lifting.
I’m not in any pain anymore, which is awesome!
Jordan is on course for a few days. I miss him even though he’s still in the city; he’s just not allowed to stay at home. He will be back Wednesday evening. 🙂
