Like the inside of a rose *

I realize I haven’t written since the beginning of July when my nephew was born. He’s just over four weeks old now and both mother and baby are doing very well. I can’t get enough of just holding him and watching his facial expressions. He makes the funniest faces!

I never even mentioned my birthday last month. I’m 29 now, which is scary. A few friends and family members went out to dinner at The Copper Penny with Jordan and I. The food was great, like usual, and I had a free dessert.

In other news, our Corolla is gone and we just have the truck now. Jordan wrecked the back-end of the car and bent the frame backing into a ditch. And he’ll be deploying in a few weeks. We’re not sure yet how long he will be away for.

August 1st marked our two-year wedding anniversary. 🙂

The weather outside is frightful *

This weekend I didn’t have to work. I actually got a Saturday and Sunday off. Amazing, I know. Yesterday we went grocery-shopping and spent over three hours out. The stores were really busy. Costco was so busy that there were no carts left. I ended up spotting an abandoned cart in an aisle so Jordan snatched it and we ran from the scene of the crime. 🙂

That evening we went out to dinner with a bunch of people at a little restaurant downtown called Windmills. We were put right by a huge window and it was cold! We could almost feel the wind inside. They had given us an electric heater, but it wasn’t giving off much heat. The food was quite pricey. I had a Thai ginger panini sandwich with chicken, cheese, and carrots in it, as well as a frothy hot chocolate. Since it was a Christmas dinner gathering, Rebecca handed out chocolate letters and holiday cards to everyone. When we had all finished our meal, we decided to stop at Copper Penny for dessert. It was much warmer in there! Jordan and I shared a slice of creamy cherry cheesecake and I had a sex-on-the-beach!

Today I was so tired I didn’t wake up until ten o’ clock. Jordan had left for church pretty early because he would be playing the drums. I didn’t do a whole lot today, read some Harry Potter & the Goblet of Fire, played some TS2, and worked on my cross-stitch. Outside, it was blizzarding! I could hardly see out the window — still can’t, for that matter. We’re getting too much snow!

Cooked dinner tonight: honey garlic chicken with mashed maple sweet potatoes!

Now that it’s raining more than ever *

I had my 25th birthday on July 12th. I worked that day, and after work Jordan and I didn’t do much. I think we watched one of the “Harry Potter” movies. I had planned a get together with friends for the 15th, so my actual birthday was just like any normal day.

On the Saturday we went over to Amy’s for her potluck. I made hashbrown potato casserole and it was delicious. There were a whole bunch of people there from high school; it was sort of like a planned reunion. Jordan barbequed the hamburgers and hot dogs in the rain. There was lots of food and snacks. We left around 8:30 pm.

Sunday morning we went to church, then back to his house. While Jordan played video games, I read a book on the battle of Thermopolae. At about 3:30 pm we met Amy and a few others at the movie theatre and watched “Harry Potter & the Order of the Phoenix“. It was a great movie although so much was left out or unexplained. I can’t wait until it comes out on DVD! After the movie we met downtown at Copper Penny for dinner. Almost everyone showed up so that was great. I had a free dessert because it was my birthday — apple beignet with ice cream and tons of whipped cream. Yum!

This Saturday we have a wedding to go to. And then Sunday afternoon we’ll be going over to Kendra & Jay’s for a BBQ!

Because I said so

I had Friday off and I went shopping with Kendra. I went in search of Nivea Summer Touch self-tanning moisturizer, which I found, and have used on my legs since. It smells really pretty. I also bought some Jergens shea butter skin enriching creme for my hands. It’s nice and thick and smells like coconut.

And then Kendra dragged me into The Body Shop which was a bad idea because I never leave that store without purchasing a new yummy treat. This time I came away with my card renewal, strawberry body polish, pink iridescent eyeshadow/body shimmer, and a free $15 gift which I spent on Jordan because he’s so special. 🙂

I worked all day Saturday and it was pretty slow. Then I had Sunday and today off. I spent Sunday with Kendra & Jay. We first went to Costco and then took the puppy Oscar for a little romp at the park. While Jay went on the computer, us girls watched the movie “Flicka” which was sad but really good. Later on we went to Jumbo Video to rent some movies and I found “The Nativity Story” used for cheap. One of the movies we rented was “Because I Said So” with Mandy Moore and Diane Keaton. Another good one! Before we watched that movie, though, the three of us went out for dinner at The Copper Penny. Mmmmm! Lidija and Nataša ended up stopping over, as well, to see Oscar.

Even though I had a headache for most of Sunday and felt lethargic, it was still a fun day. As for today, I haven’t done much but chat with Jordan, wash the dishes, and work on my cross-stitch. Good times.

Sweetest of songs from across the ocean *

After work last night, Jordan took me out to Copper Penny, my favourite restaurant. I had a craving for their honey-garlic chicken sandwich and their signature French fries. Mmm! I ate way too much food but it was delicious! I think he had some sort of linquine with Alfredo sauce and garlic bread and he kept stealing my fries. 😛

Back at the house we exchanged gifts. He told me to look under my pillow first and I found a Reese’s chocolate-covered peanut butter heart! Then he brought out a gift bag, but I made him open his gifts first. lol I gave him a large bag of Swedish berries (his favourite candies), a red stuffed devil, a metallic blue picture frame, and a light blue T-shirt. Then he gave me my gift and inside the bag was a big heart-shaped container of chocolate truffles (mmm!) and — Midnight Fantasy perfume! I absolutely love that stuff and have been wanting to buy it. I think it’s a lot better coming from him, though. 🙂

And that was our Valentine’s Day! It turned out very nice and he let me take a few pictures of us in the restaurant. All I can say is that he makes me very happy, even when he’s driving me crazy! haha
