Easter Sunday

Easter Sunday turned out to be quite a nice day, if a little cooler than the previous days. I wore my white Garage skirt to church in the morning. Jordan’s mother dressed up too. However by the time we got home our legs were freezing so we changed back into pants. Everyone helped to clean up the house while Charlene made corn bread and I made hashbrown casserole. Jordan decided he wanted to make home-made croutons for the Caesar salad, and they turned out yummy.

My family started arriving around 2 pm. My mom brought lots of food: sliced turkey, mashed garlic potatoes, candied carrots, green beans almondine, mashed maple sweet potatoes, corn, home-made cranberry stuffing and cranberry sauce, and fresh gravy. We stuffed ourselves to the max, and then after hanging out on the patio for a couple hours, ate the desserts I prepared: vanilla pound cake, banana bread, and blueberry cheesecake. One of my sisters made cinnamon buns which were very popular. Mmmm. The food was wonderful!

My dad had to leave early, but everyone else left before five. Jordan’s parents decided that since they had everything packed already, that they would leave that day instead of early Monday morning. So we said goodbye to his parents and brother, who came up on the bus, and then had a nice evening to ourselves. It was quite hectic with all of us in one house, especially sharing one bathroom, but we managed and it was a pleasant visit. 🙂

The in-laws have come to town

So far we’ve had beautiful weather for Easter weekend! I truly hope that spring is here to stay, because it’s lovely to be able to wear flip-flops and shorts finally. I shaved my legs this morning in anticipation of skirt-wearing!

My husband’s parents drove down from New Brunswick and arrived Tuesday night. The next two days Jordan and I both had to work, so I’m not sure what they did to occupy themselves. After work on Thursday, I came home and made venison enchiladas, which turned out great. We sat around and chatted for the rest of the evening, after clean-up.

Friday morning everyone got up late. I made ham and potato soup for lunch, and then we got the bicycles ready and drove down to a park where there are trails. We spent almost two hours out riding and enjoying the sunshine. When we came back to the house, his mom wanted to weed the garden (no complaints there!) and I baked banana bread. For dinner Jordan barbecued chicken and sausages while I made egg-fried rice; we had a yummy dinner. After eating, his mother and I sat down to watch a movie while Jordan, his dad, and his brother worked on putting in a shelf and bar in the upstairs closet. Early to bed.

Muffin goes for a bike ride!

Saturday morning I was up early. I already had plans to go to Belleville with Pam and Laura to purchase bridesmaid shoes. The drive there was uneventful; traffic not very heavy. We were in the bridal store for maybe 15 minutes trying on and purchasing shoes. They’re going to be dyed to match our dresses. After that we picked up items for Amy’s bachelorette party at a naughty store. 😉 A quick stop at Tim Horton’s for a snack, and we were on our way home. I got in around 3:30 pm, so it was quite a long day.

Now his parents have gone down to the waterfront for a walk and Jordan’s out dirt biking with some friends. I’ve made a cheesecake and pound cake, desserts for tomorrow’s Easter dinner. We’ll have about 12 people piled into the house. Should be interesting!

“Excuse me, can I use a feather bed like a duvet?”

Work has been keeping me incredibly busy. I don’t find myself with much in the way of spare time. We finally have sort of defined positions now: I usually split up my shift with being on cash and tidying/stocking up the Pillows &Duvets and Bed Linens department. Usually by the end of the day I am covered in feather lint.

I am finally taking a much-needed holiday. I’m taking the train up to Toronto to stay with Nancy for Easter Weekend. On Saturday we are going to Canadian Stars on Ice. It’s gonna be fun and I’m going to take a lot of pictures. 🙂

I will miss my honey but I’m sure he’ll be just fine being at home eating the Cadbury chocolate mini-eggs I left him. 😀

I wanna hold you high and steal your pain *

Finally I have got this site back up and running properly. Now for some catch up. Lots of things going on since my last blog. Last week Jordan found out he was accepted into a military course he had applied for a few months ago. He had to leave on the 17th, the day after Easter. So I spent as much time as possible with him last weekend. Friday was spent just hanging out and going down to the waterfront to take pictures. We watched “The Mummy” before bed.

Unfortunately I was incredibly sick on the Saturday which was a whole day wasted. I had to call in sick to work and therefore lost holiday pay for Friday and Sunday. I spent that whole day in pain and throwing up or curled up in a ball in bed. Jordan did his best to take care of me but I just felt disgusting.

By Sunday I was feeling a little better, thankfully, though my stomach felt raw and it hurt when I walked. I went to church with Jordan for the Easter service. Afterward we went out for brunch. I managed to eat half a wrap. The food was pretty good but it was hard to enjoy it cuz I wasn’t feeling 100%. But I was glad we’d gone out for one last meal before he had to go away.

Anyway, my mom invited us over for Easter dinner. We had roast and potatoes and carrots. The food was delicious! I love my mom’s cooking. I think we all had a good time, chatting, laughing, taking photos, making fun of each other. lol I didn’t want the night to end because I knew Jordan would be leaving on Monday…but he promised to stop by my house Monday afternoon before he left.

The course lasts until August so he’ll be gone quite awhile. 🙁 This is only day 4. It’s hard just talking to him on the phone. I haven’t had a hug since Monday and that definitely feels strange. He can’t drive down here this weekend because he only has Sunday off. Hopefully he’ll get a free weekend soon because I miss him like crazy. This is the first time I have ever wished the summer would just fly by so that it can be mid-August and he can be here with me.

“I’d say, more like a friendly suggestion.”

It’s Easter time and last night my mom came over to give us some Caramilk Eggs and Creme Eggs. I love them; too bad they aren’t sold all year round! Keesje and I watched “Mulan II” and it’s a really cute movie with fun songs. haha We love Mulan!

What else have I been up to? Went out for St. Patrick’s Day with Amy, Rebecca, and Mark…Easter is pretty uneventful as we’re not doing anything besides making ourselves sick with too much chocolate….

I’m finally getting a few more hours at work. I had Wednesday off so I spent the day with Kendra & Jay. We watched some “Friends” episodes, went to the mall and Wal-Mart to try to cure our boredom (didn’t work), and then out to dinner with Marcel & Julia. It was nice finally meeting her! We had Chinese buffet. I’m not a fan of buffet but everybody really liked the place. Afterward we headed over to Marcel’s and I met his new roommate. It took us ages to figure out which movie we would watch. lol We settled on “The Forgotten” with Julianne Moore. The movie was good, but creepy.

Anyway, I have to leave for work! I know it’s going to be incredibly busy there. Eek.
