Your love is my drug *

Just about all my flowers are dead. The lilac bloomed for a couple days, then died. Everywhere else has TONS of lilac, but noooooooo mine are gone already. My tulips have been destroyed by a huge weed that grew right up the middle of the plant. The phlox still looks pretty, and my lilies are getting taller but no blooms yet. My garden looks like crap already. Weeds are everywhere and I really don’t feel like doing anything about it anymore.

Jordan has been gone since Sunday. I miss him like crazy. I’ve been working a lot, but on my days off I don’t know what to do with myself. Six months to go…

Today Stacey, from work, came over and hung out with me today. We’re both the “quiet” girls, but we ended up talking for five hours and didn’t notice the time until it was 8 pm. We watched the movie “Post Grad” with Alexis Bledel; both of us liked it. I barbecued hamburgers for dinner and we ate outside at the patio table. It was a very nice day and I’m glad we got to spend some time together. It’s very rare for the two of us to have the same day off.

I cannot believe May is just about done. Less than two months to the Two Weddings. I still need my dress altered. Stacey’s shower is in a couple weeks. Then Amy’s bachelorette at the end of the month. And my youngest sister’s high school graduation. June is going to be a busy month, I think!

Mad as a hatter

I have been pretty busy at work. I am just about finished moving in the new towel line. It’s taken me longer than I expected, but the wall looks great and the colours are beautiful. I have the end cap empty, ready for the new shower curtains. Tomorrow I hope to finish getting the rest of the matching product out, and then I am off for a three-day weekend!

The house was a complete disaster when I came home. Washed all the dishes and threw in a load of laundry. It’s amazing how much tidier a house looks when the kitchen counters are clear of dishes and clutter. Now where to put all the stuff piled on the table? And what is for dinner?

Planning to have my cousin and her husband and two beautiful little girls over for a visit on Saturday. Near the end of this month they will be moving to Edmonton, due to her husband being posted. I will miss them. 🙁

Last weekend, Jordan and I took a day-trip to Ottawa which I forgot to write about. We tested out the Garmin GPS his parents gave us and it worked great. We went to a large bike store and found some dirt bike riding gear for myself. Ah yes, forgot to mention: Jordan thought it would be cool to buy me a dirt bike, so that we can go biking together. Since this is his favourite hobby and he’s already paid for it, I agreed I would at least try the sport. So now I’m all kitted out and ready for my first lesson. I’m not sure if I’m looking forward to this or not!

Also, Monday afternoon we decided to go see a movie. We very rarely go out to the theatre; I won’t go unless it’s a movie I know I will enjoy. We saw Tim Burton’s “Alice in Wonderland” in 3D and it was great! I really loved the movie and can’t wait until it comes out on DVD. I did have a headache by the end, though, from the 3D glasses, but it was worth it! 🙂

Take my hand, just be careful with it *

Husband has been in Haiti for over 30 days now. I miss him lots. At the latest, he should be home mid-March. I can’t wait!

Just had the girls from work, Stacey and Erin, over for snacks and a movie. We watched “Just Friends” (not a fan), and ate popcorn, fruit, and fresh cinnamon buns. I love having these two over, we always talk more than we watch!

So come on and fly with me *

Just finished watching “Harry Potter & the Goblet of Fire” with my darling husband. Of course, I had to explain just about everything to him, but that’s okay because at least he watched it with me. 🙂

Sour cream spice cake with chocolate icing was a hit. I was a little hesitant when the recipe suggested using chocolate icing, but the combination is quite tasty! Jordan liked it and so did everyone at work. My first day back to work after holidays. A busy day; lots of work to catch up on.

On Thursday, I had my mom, Mike, and Keesje over for dinner. The night before I marinated a pork roast, and then in the morning tossed it into the slow cooker with some chopped potatoes. Smelled so good all day. Baked a vanilla pound cake. Then made caramelized carrots and onions for a side dish. Everyone enjoyed the food. This was the first time we’d had my mom and her spouse over for a sit-down meal so it was quite nice. Usually we call my dad over since he lives on his own and I like to feed him. It’s hard to get everyone at my mom’s house coordinated enough to come over for a visit.

I am off for another two days. What shall I bake this time?

When I look into your eyes, the sky’s a different blue *

I have upgraded to the newest version of WordPress. I can be so lazy about these sorts of things, but I figured I might as well just do it. Have to get used to the new look of the dashboard and I can’t figure out how to get an avatar.

Anyway, I’m on my second day off from work in a row. Yesterday I baked carrot cake with cream cheese icing, which turned out really good. Today I hope to make lava cupcakes with Jersey Milk chocolate as the centres.

I finished the book I was reading and ran upstairs to get the next one I wanted to read, only to discover that the book has disappeared. So far I am missing three books and I’ve already gone through the unpacked boxes looking for them, so I have a feeling they may have been lent out and I have no idea who has them. Quite possibly one of my parents? Argh.

I don’t have much planned for today. Probably will play TS2. I very rarely play the new game: The Sims 3. It’s an okay game, but I still prefer the old game and all its expansions, mostly because I like to play all different characters whereas in the new game it’s difficult to do that.

I’m thinking of doing a page about our wedding and posting photos. I don’t know when I’ll get to that, but it’s something I’d like to do eventually. The pictures turned out so lovely that I like to show them off. It’s hard to believe that Jordan and I have been married a month today! He’s out of town for a couple days, for work, so I’m on my own this week. Which pretty much means I need to deal with the daddy-longlegs spiders on my own! Eww, they really creep me out!

I watched “Enchanted” yesterday afternoon. A cute movie. Maybe today I’ll watch “The Kite Runner”. I’ve had it for awhile but still haven’t seen it.
