What else does one need?

Work was very busy today. I spent most of my time at the cash register. Good start to the month, I think. Tomorrow I have off; going to IKEA in Ottawa with my mom.

I am not much of a fan of Hallowe’en. Worked until 3:30 pm, stopped off downtown to reload my bus pass for November; then went home and made tacos for dinner. After that I watched “Ella Enchanted” and ate Maltesers and then went to bed around 9 o’ clock. Lovely. 🙂

A whole lot of not nothing

It’s just about bedtime for me. I’ve had yesterday and today off work. Yesterday I went over to Kendra & Jay’s for their annual backyard barbeque. I baked chocolate cupcakes on the Saturday, and then Sunday at noon Kendra picked me up, then Keesje, and we went to the grocery store to pick up pop and snacks. Back at her place, we helped to chop vegetables for the veggie tray and set things up. There were 9 of us in total, not too large a group. I think everyone had a good time. After the food, we went inside to play Wii. I’m not much of a fan of video games, so I watched, took pictures, and a funny video of Amy “crashing into a pineapple”. lol

Today I did a whole lot of nothing. Well, if nothing consists of TS2, watching “Brick Lane”, putting photos from the BBQ on Facebook, making the first page of my Thailand scrapbook, and reading!

The beat is on the street *

After Christmas I had a week off by request. Jordan and I decided to drive down to New Brunswick to visit his parents and other relatives. We spent our New Year’s Eve day driving. We had a good time and relaxed quite a bit. Brought some movies with us so when we had nothing planned to do we watched “Happy Feet”, which was funny; “Ratatouille”, another one that had us laughing; and “Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End”, a good action-packed one. The first day we arrived, his parents had arranged a family dinner. On Thursday and Friday we visited with a couple of Jordan’s friends. And then we left early morning on January 5th and arrived home by about ten that night. Good to be home again! I go back to work on Tuesday.

It’s been a merry Christmas

Christmas this year was wonderful. We opened gifts after a breakfast of bacon and eggs! Jordan gave me some really cool gifts, including new speakers for my computer (they are metallic light pink!), “Harry Potter & the Order of the Phoenix”, “Pirates of the Caribbean 3”, “Pan’s Labyrinth”, a lovely glass dish that can be used as a cake stand/punch bowl/trifle dish, various red KitchenAid things, pyjamas, and of course lots of chocolate! I gave him a game he wanted for Xbox 360, some movies, mittens, and a 6-in-1 heavy coat for going hunting. 🙂

After that, we went to my mom’s to exchange presents and for dinner. She bought me way too much! A novel, two cookbooks, bath stuff, socks, chocolates, a Harry Potter calendar, and — get this — a Crock Pot slow-cooker! My eyes just about bugged out of my head! Now I have to learn how to use it. hehe I gave my mom a pretty pot for a plant, and two hanging star tealight holders. Keesje gave me these really cool Egyptian plaque things that are made out of rock that hang on the wall: on the three separate rectangular rock things are Egyptian motifs and hieroglyphs. They look really cool! I gave her some Body Butter from The Body Shop and a Final Fantasy game for her Playstation 2. For Krystal, I gave her a La Senza gift card. A Chapters gift card to Mark. Oh, Mark gave Jordan and I an African game called Mancala but we haven’t played it yet. He also gave us Starbucks coffee beans!

Dinner was great! Delicious turkey and stuffing, sweet potatoes, green beans and parsnips, potatoe thingy (made by yours truly), rolls, and for dessert Keesje had made chocolate cheescake. My mom also made pumpkin pie!

Today, on Boxing Day, I worked at 7 am until 4:30 pm. I was scheduled until 6 pm but I got to leave early. Jordan picked me up and we ended up going to the mall before it closed and I found a couple pairs of black pants for work at Garage Clothing.

Now that it’s raining more than ever *

I had my 25th birthday on July 12th. I worked that day, and after work Jordan and I didn’t do much. I think we watched one of the “Harry Potter” movies. I had planned a get together with friends for the 15th, so my actual birthday was just like any normal day.

On the Saturday we went over to Amy’s for her potluck. I made hashbrown potato casserole and it was delicious. There were a whole bunch of people there from high school; it was sort of like a planned reunion. Jordan barbequed the hamburgers and hot dogs in the rain. There was lots of food and snacks. We left around 8:30 pm.

Sunday morning we went to church, then back to his house. While Jordan played video games, I read a book on the battle of Thermopolae. At about 3:30 pm we met Amy and a few others at the movie theatre and watched “Harry Potter & the Order of the Phoenix“. It was a great movie although so much was left out or unexplained. I can’t wait until it comes out on DVD! After the movie we met downtown at Copper Penny for dinner. Almost everyone showed up so that was great. I had a free dessert because it was my birthday — apple beignet with ice cream and tons of whipped cream. Yum!

This Saturday we have a wedding to go to. And then Sunday afternoon we’ll be going over to Kendra & Jay’s for a BBQ!
