I had my 25th birthday on July 12th. I worked that day, and after work Jordan and I didn’t do much. I think we watched one of the “Harry Potter” movies. I had planned a get together with friends for the 15th, so my actual birthday was just like any normal day.
On the Saturday we went over to Amy’s for her potluck. I made hashbrown potato casserole and it was delicious. There were a whole bunch of people there from high school; it was sort of like a planned reunion. Jordan barbequed the hamburgers and hot dogs in the rain. There was lots of food and snacks. We left around 8:30 pm.
Sunday morning we went to church, then back to his house. While Jordan played video games, I read a book on the battle of Thermopolae. At about 3:30 pm we met Amy and a few others at the movie theatre and watched “Harry Potter & the Order of the Phoenix“. It was a great movie although so much was left out or unexplained. I can’t wait until it comes out on DVD! After the movie we met downtown at Copper Penny for dinner. Almost everyone showed up so that was great. I had a free dessert because it was my birthday — apple beignet with ice cream and tons of whipped cream. Yum!
This Saturday we have a wedding to go to. And then Sunday afternoon we’ll be going over to Kendra & Jay’s for a BBQ!
I’m just sitting here this morning. Not up to much. Enjoying not having to get ready for work. I had a nine hour shift yesterday and a forty-five minute lunch. A few of us went over to Denny’s for some smothered cheese fries. They were sooooo goood! Work was pretty slow for the day before Mother’s Day. I was quite bored.
Amy showed up a half hour before close. I ended up talking to her for twenty-five minutes about various things that I will not go into detail about here and then she waited around til I was finished. We went out for dinner at Montana’s and I had a chicken quesadilla with sour cream. I hadn’t had one of those in quite a while; it was delicious. Afterward we came back to my apartment and chatted. She borrowed one of my favourite books: The Poisonwood Bible.
Today is not only Mother’s Day, but my Dad’s birthday, too!
I preordered Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows from Chapters. With it, I ordered two other books to read: Something Borrowed by Emily Giffin (read it in two days and loved it), and The Glass Castle by Jeannette Walls (so far another good one). I still need to pick up the last few books in the “Shopaholic” series and the last one in the “Sisterhood” series. I love reading. 🙂
Well, Jordan’s flight to come home has been pushed back a week so now he won’t be home until the last week of May. I know it’s only an extra week from the original date but it still feels like it will take even longer for these days to pass. Sometimes I wonder what things we might have done this month, what movies we would have watched, what food we would have cooked. It’s like this month is a pause, or just doesn’t exist for us at all.
I was on-call yesterday but ended up not having to work. So I took the bus over to Loblaws because I needed to pick up a few things. Jordan met me over there since he had just finished work. I found a 2007 Harry Potter calendar for $1.98 which is a pretty sweet deal if you ask me. 🙂 As well as a “Company’s Coming: Most Loved Cookies” recipe book.
After Loblaws we rushed home to let the dogs out, had leftover chili for dinner (from my mom the day before), then went out to some grocery stores. We spent two and a half hours at five stores and got some great deals on things like soup, chocolate milk, frozen dinners, etc.
I’m kinda broke now and I still have to buy the ingredients for the dinner and dessert I am making for Jordan’s birthday. Two more paychecks this week — come on Thursday and Friday!
I went out yesterday and bought the 2-disc Special Edition “Harry Potter & the Goblet of Fire”! And then I made Jordan watch it. haha I love that movie and the case is all pretty and silver.
Tis all the news for now. I’m gonna hop in the shower and get ready for another day at work.
La la la, I loved “Harry Potter & the Goblet of Fire”. Was totally in awe of the entire movie. Must watch again. As soon as possible.
