I see the hunger in your eyes

It was very close to the one-year anniversary of my previous layout so I thought it was about time I made a new one. And for the thousandth time, the new layout features Leonor Varela. What a surprize! haha At least Keesje understands. 😉

I enjoyed my Saturday off. I didn’t really do a whole lot. Talked to Jordan on the phone for a bit. We tried to chat on MSN but the computer he was on kept freezing. We were going to try using webcams but couldn’t get it to work. I would have loved to be able to see his face. But maybe it would have made me too sad…

Worked on the cross-stitch again and read some more of Shopaholic Ties the Knot (Sophie Kinsella). I am loving this series. It’s pretty funny and I hardly want to put the book down! Ooh, I also watched the movie “The Devil Wears Prada” which I loved!

Ich liebe dich. I think about you all the time.

Sugar, you make my life complete *

I woke up at 9:20 this morning, ten minutes before my alarm was set to go off. I figured I would have a nice boring, lazy day at home because I didn’t have to work. I don’t even remember what I did in the morning…I must have read some of Helen of Troy (Margaret George) and checked my email. My computer has been making that loud whirring noise again. I think it’s coming from the disc drive but I am not completely certain. Whatever it is, it’s annoying and I try to keep my computer shut down unless I am so bored that I must go on the internet.

After I got out of the shower Food Basics called and offered me a 2-7 pm shift so I took it. That gives me a total of 9 hours from that place for the week, which is shitty. Combined with my other job, though, I will have 35 hours, plus the holiday pay, so I don’t think my paycheck next week will be as bad as I thought it would be. Work was steady but seemed to go by slowly. Just as boring as if I had been at home, but at least I made a bit of money.

Today Keesje bought some face cloths and bath towels for the apartment. She says they are for guests: one blue towel for Nancy, one pink towel for Jordan. lol Or maybe it’s the other way around. 😛

Called the superintendant of the building we’re moving into, but no answer. I need to arrange a moving-in day by tomorrow so my mom can rent a truck for us. Hopefully I can get ahold of the lady tomorrow morning.

In one of my bored moments this evening I went through a box that has been sitting in my room for two years, still packed from the last move. It was filled with a few stuffed animals (the doggy, christened Rover, is now the playmate of Destiny), some candle holders, old picture frames, and little knick-knacks. I threw the knick-knacks out since I have no use for them, especially if I haven’t thought of them in two years.

Tomorrow I have the day off and my only plan is to go over to my mom’s. She is going to dye my hair for me. It needs to be done very badly. lol

Talked to Jordan on the phone for a little bit, about a half hour ago. We can’t have long conversations because it’ll cost him a fortune on his cell phone (long distance). Friday will be here soon enough though. 🙂

Storytelling

Oh, did I mention that I am sick yet again? I feel so gross. It started out as a sore throat, then turned into a full-blown cold. Luckily no fever this time, so I haven’t had to call in sick at work. I’ve had to drug myself up when I go into work so that I don’t have to blow my nose so much. The cold seems to be subsiding and I am really hoping that I will be better by Lane’s party on Saturday.

The last little while I have had “reader’s block”, for lack of a better word. lol I keep starting books and then after reading a few chapters I get bored of them because they just do not interest me. I am very picky with writing styles and nothing seems to live up to the standards I like — J.K. Rowling and Diana Gabaldon are amazing story-tellers who write just the way I like.

A few days ago Keesje let me read The Lady & the Unicorn, which is by the same author as Girl With A Pearl Earring (a beautifully written novel). I liked the book and I would probably read it again, but it didn’t make me say “Wow, that was great!” like GWAPE did. Kees was sick of me complaining that I have nothing good to read so she searched Amazon and made a list of a few titles I might like.

As I had the day off today, I hung out with Lane and Jocelyn in the afternoon, did a bit of shopping (bought hair dye and batteries for my camera), and then after Keesje got off work we all went out to Chapters. I bought one of the books that was on the list: The Queen’s Fool by Philippa Gregory. I am only eighteen pages in, but I think I have found my new “wow” book!

India is the place to be *

Somehow I ended up with 30 hours this week at work. That’s a record for me. I know more cashiers are being hired and trained so I have a feeling my hours are going to plummet in the next week or so.

I just finished reading Harry Potter & the Half-Blood Prince. Wow! Really good! I couldn’t put the book down and I was up until 2:30 a.m. finishing it. There is so much information in that book that I’m still thinking things over. Crazy. I think very differently about certain characters now, and I’m very happy — and sad — about certain relationships that are developing, but I’m not going to spoil the book for anyone who hasn’t yet read it. Come on J.K. Rowling, start writing the next one!

I’ve got Ashanti’s song from “Bride & Prejudice” stuck in my head. That movie is great! It’s a musical that takes place in India and California. The songs are very catchy and everything is so colourful. 😀
