A visit to Ottawa

As I said in my previous post, I worked the Saturday of Easter weekend. When I got home we packed an overnight bag and headed to Ottawa to visit Jordan’s sister and her husband. They recently moved to Ontario from New Brunswick and at the time were staying in a hotel while waiting for the moving truck to show up. They invited us to stay the night in their suite and the next day we wandered around the city, playing tourists. We walked around Parliament Hill, some markets where I tried my first Beaver Tail (yum!), hung out on the roof-top garden at the closed mall, and purchased some books at the Chapters across the street.

I bought the new Sophie Kinsella book, Mini-Shopaholic, and another book I’ve been wanting to read for some time now: My Maasai Life (Robin Wiszowaty). I also checked out the Kobo e-readers on display and fell in love. 🙂 I am now a proud owner of one of these devices, and I absolutely love it!

Mad as a hatter

I have been pretty busy at work. I am just about finished moving in the new towel line. It’s taken me longer than I expected, but the wall looks great and the colours are beautiful. I have the end cap empty, ready for the new shower curtains. Tomorrow I hope to finish getting the rest of the matching product out, and then I am off for a three-day weekend!

The house was a complete disaster when I came home. Washed all the dishes and threw in a load of laundry. It’s amazing how much tidier a house looks when the kitchen counters are clear of dishes and clutter. Now where to put all the stuff piled on the table? And what is for dinner?

Planning to have my cousin and her husband and two beautiful little girls over for a visit on Saturday. Near the end of this month they will be moving to Edmonton, due to her husband being posted. I will miss them. 🙁

Last weekend, Jordan and I took a day-trip to Ottawa which I forgot to write about. We tested out the Garmin GPS his parents gave us and it worked great. We went to a large bike store and found some dirt bike riding gear for myself. Ah yes, forgot to mention: Jordan thought it would be cool to buy me a dirt bike, so that we can go biking together. Since this is his favourite hobby and he’s already paid for it, I agreed I would at least try the sport. So now I’m all kitted out and ready for my first lesson. I’m not sure if I’m looking forward to this or not!

Also, Monday afternoon we decided to go see a movie. We very rarely go out to the theatre; I won’t go unless it’s a movie I know I will enjoy. We saw Tim Burton’s “Alice in Wonderland” in 3D and it was great! I really loved the movie and can’t wait until it comes out on DVD. I did have a headache by the end, though, from the 3D glasses, but it was worth it! 🙂

What else does one need?

Work was very busy today. I spent most of my time at the cash register. Good start to the month, I think. Tomorrow I have off; going to IKEA in Ottawa with my mom.

I am not much of a fan of Hallowe’en. Worked until 3:30 pm, stopped off downtown to reload my bus pass for November; then went home and made tacos for dinner. After that I watched “Ella Enchanted” and ate Maltesers and then went to bed around 9 o’ clock. Lovely. 🙂

Rinse and repeat

I was up very early this morning to make sure that Jordan got off to work in time. He had to be there at 5:45 a.m. He went to Ottawa today to participate in two parades at the throne speech. I watched part of this speech tonight on TV on the off-chance of seeing the boys marching about, but the speech went on and on and on and I almost fell asleep. Boooooring. Needless to say, I turned it off. Blech.

I had a craving for McDonald’s today. McChicken and fries for dinner!

Haven’t been up to much lately: Wake up, go to work, come home, do nothing, rinse and repeat. I bought a new Samsung 20″ LCD monitor the other day from FutureShop. Wow, it’s huge. I love it to death. I got it for the sale price since the sale tag was still on the shelf (although the sale had only been over a day).

And I have ordered a new computer tower with the works from Canada Computers; it is still being built (waiting for some parts, specifically the motherboard which is rather important). Can’t wait until I can install Sims 2 onto a fast computer!

Here today, gone tomorrow

I haven’t been home very much since Jordan arrived back in town the night of May 28th. Besides working, we have spent a lot of time together. It’s amazing how much I missed him but now that he is home I feel like he had never left.

Yesterday we drove to Ottawa to visit some of my cousins. Keesje came with us. We left in the morning and I drove all the way there. It was a little nerve-wracking, especially when we went through towns, and even more so once we hit Nepean and had to find Delia’s apartment. Delia and Sinyoung’s baby daughter, Jeena, is getting so big. She’s adorable!

After a little visit there, all of us drove out to Sara & Greg’s. That was another half hour to forty-five minute drive east of Ottawa, but this time Jordan drove because we took the 401. We had a barbeque for Sara’s birthday, sat around and took pictures, ate, got attacked by bugs, etc. I didn’t bring my bikini, otherwise I would have gone swimming in the pool. Jordan happened to have swimming trunks in the truck so he jumped in for a bit!

Ooh, I bought a new camera: the Canon S3 IS that I have wanted since it came out!

Jordan has gone away again, this time to New Brunswick. He left this morning with another guy from work and they should be back Thursday at the latest. Then we have a nice little weekend planned. 🙂
