A year without you is like a year without rain *

Only a couple more weeks and we will be on our way! I can’t believe how fast this trip has come upon us. I remember starting to plan our itinerary about 17 weeks ago and so far everything has fallen into place smoothly. We have our hotels and flights finalized. And I only have a small list of things I need to do or pick up. I purchased some Euro notes this morning, which makes things seem more real!

The weather is definitely changing toward fall, now that we’re already half-way through September. It’s been very chilly in the early mornings and in the evenings, but I am trying my best to layer my clothing rather than turning on the furnace. We didn’t turn the heat on until the second week of October last year, so this year I’m hoping not to have to use it until I get back from our trip at the end of October. And of course drinking lots of tea helps to keep warm. 🙂

Go away allergy season

My allergies have been really bad this summer. Normally I will have a bit of a runny nose and a bit of sneezing, whether I’m at home, at work, or outdoors. This summer, though, I am constantly sneezing, my nose runs as if I have a cold, my eyes are incredibly itchy and I just want to scratch them, and a couple times I’ve awoke in the morning with red, puffy eyes streaming tears. It’s horrible. Until the past month, I had never taken allergy medication. Now I need it to function, and even then I still have the sniffles.

I’ve had enough of summer. Even the crappy, rainy, not-so-hot one we’ve had. Bring on fall and hopefully the end of my annoyance! I would like to wear mascara again and not have it smeared from rubbing my itchy eyes, thank you very much.

Anyway. I worked an early shift today, which means I ended work at 4 pm. Drove home, had a glass of water, checked emails, etc. Jordan asked if I would like to go out on a date. I figured he meant Canadian Tire. lol No, he meant a real date, to Montana’s for dinner. We are quite broke, but as a wedding gift my cousin gave us a gift card. I ordered a turkey club and fries with mayo; Jordan had smoked salmon with rice and broccoli.

He didn’t get much sleep this week, being away. He crawled into bed at 7:30 pm while I drank tea and sat in the kitchen, organizing wedding photos. 🙂

Tag cloud

I have added a tag cloud to the sidebar. Took me awhile to figure out the proper coding since I’m not using actual WordPress themes. But there you have it, the cloud is bursting with tags! I’ve gone through some previous entries and tagged them but not all are finished.

The snow that fell yesterday — our first snowfall of the year — has melted.

I’m going to make some tea and play TS2, I think.

The one with the gag-worthy stench

Just sitting here drinking a mug of tea. I ran out of tea bags two days ago and I have been dying for my daily dosage and now I’m enjoying a lovely tea. 🙂

I have been off work for a week, simply for the sake of not having to work during this slow time. Originally I had booked some of the last few days off so that I could spend time with Jordan during his birthday and our two year anniversary. However, plan went out window, because work sent him to Florida. Florida! Gah. Frustrating. But anyway, now he’s home, and I baked him a birthday cake, and we cuddled and watched an episode of “The Tudors: Season 1”.

We have a really disgusting smell in the apartment, and trust me, it has nothing to do with my housekeeping abilities. The smell is coming from the ventilation pipes in the attic. The stink somehow comes into one of the hall closets and then seeps into the rest of the apartment. The scent is like sewer and dead animal, or something equally nauseating. Apparently the problem with the pipes has been fixed, however, the smell has been with us since last Monday and has not abated in the slightest.

{edit} People keep suggesting Febreze will get rid of the smell. Yes, under normal circumstances, it does work. However, in this case, Febreze cannot overpower this smell. It does absolutely nothing. I have tried it. Last night we kept the window in the computer room open, left the offensive closet door open as well, and turned on a fan to try to allow the smell to escape out the window. Well, it works a little, but the stink just comes back after the fan is turned off. 🙁

Tea and sugar

We move in 11 days. The living room is filled with boxes, and I swear most of them are books. My room still looks a mess even though so much is packed.

I worked this weekend. It was insanely busy. By Sunday at close I was feeling a little stressed. Luckily I had Monday off and today as well. Yesterday I spent most of the day with Jordan. I helped him pack up some clothes, we had lunch, and then watched the movie “The Guardian”. In the evening he dropped me off at my apartment and he went fishing with a friend.

I bought “Gilmore Girls: Season 3” the other day. I love that show! As well as “Grey’s Anatomy: Season 1”.

I have a headache. I think I shall make a cup of tea with sugar and milk.
